A COVENANT FOR CHANGE.

Magkapit Kamay Para sa Kalikasan

Let’s Join Our Hands for Nature a Covenant for Change was my vision and advocacy when I run as a community Councilor (Kagawad) in San Antonio Village Makati Philippines in 1994.

During that time I was a legislative Staff officer of Makati and was involved in numerous programs on environment in the Local and National level.

In one afternoon as I walk around our community I saw a billboard that says

Here will rise a City within a City.

I immediately went to the Barangay Hall to inquired about this project.

As soon as I entered the Hall the Barangay officials just end their session wherein they decided to split up into two rival political party

The once solid council now divided.

When the barangay captain saw me He immediately asked me to run as a kagawad under him.

I was really surprised. It was 18 days before the election

Since I just got married I consulted my wife first, then my Boss and my family.

With a lot of prayers I decided to run.

I won as the number one councilor in our community

It’s not easy. Out Barangay is so big compared to other community and with it is huge responsibility

Yung bahay ko palaging may kumakatok. Yung namatayan, nasa ospital, nahuli, pang enrollment at marami pang Iba

So sa mga tumatakbo mag isip mabuti if this life is for you.

Kasi Iba yung feeling na May natulugan ka.

Magaan sa loob. Actually you can help without being a kagawad o kapitan.

The church needs laborers. God need servants

Ang pagtulong nasa puso na natin yun.

Eto ang kwento ng aking buhay

Many years ago early 90’s a youth leader said I am inspired by Kuya John because he knows the meaning of his life which is commitment to serve the youth and our environment.

It is indeed a challenge to be an instrument of change. It’s not easy, but we need to start on something.

I asked Father Stephen Borlaug early 2024 to help me win back people to join us in the 40 Days for Life Pro life campaign. This is his response.

Be the Change. Its just make me smile

It’s my advocacy for many years. Hmmm

History of our Community

Barrio Camachile to San Antonio Village

Before the name SAN ANTONIO was adopted, the village was first known as Barrio Camachile, and then as Sitio Camachile.

It was a small place where few houses and people dwelt.

The place was literally a swamp filled with grass and “kangkong.” There wasn’t much light

Municipality of Makati to City of Makati

On January 2, 1995, President Fidel V. Ramos signed Republic Act No. 7854, making Makati the seventh city in Metro Manila.

Councilor Raul Javier sponsored a debate Pasyahan Gawing Lungsod ang Makati.

If the dictionary were to define the term “lucky constituents” it would probably say “A group of people who has been able to elect John Y. Atilano as one of its Barangay Kagawad.” He was given a chance to serve his constituents and he never wasted any single second to do as such and never was the cause of the youth left his mind and his heart. And if there is a way to define the phrase

“service to humanity” let my nominee’s achievements and service speak for itself.

JOHN Y. ATILANO, 38 years old, is a man simple in his ways but with a heart focused on the youth. This is the reason why he has a very distinct and enjoyable life with the young sector of the community where he lived and continually serve.

If the is something very significant in our work. It is not the awards that we got . It is how many youth were mold to be a better person
